White Tail Ridge
(Yorkville, IL) is a challenging gem located away from major cities and
nestled in the countryside. The course
is located on two city limits with some holes that do not allow for alchol to
be served. Player’s would be greeted at
the 13th hole to stock up on their favor beverage to finish their
round. The course was in great shape
considering the draught that the area has been experiencing. The player’s were greeted with much better
conditions than last years thunderstorm that produce a large hole in the range
when lightening touched down. The low
round was turned in by Brooks Biggs shooting a 71.

Championship Flight:
Brooks Biggs redeemed himself from his last tournament shooting a 71 to beat
out Pat Polzin who finished second with a 76.
Through eight holes Pat was at even par heading into the ninth while
Brooks was at one under. Brooks took a
two stroke lead over Pat when Pat doubled the ninth even though Brooks bogied
as well. It was Brooks who closed out
the last four holes scoring birdies on 15, 16 & 18 to end the day at even
par for his round and winning by five strokes over Brooks.

Palmer Flight: Kirk Blakney is the top Palmer of either South
or North Tour with multiple wins at both tour events. He continued his winning ways by posting a 79
to win by three strokes over Fred Kepler who took 2nd place with a
final score of 82. Fred will be 74 years
young December 17 of this year and many of us would hope to be playing golf at
that age but Fred sports a good game and don’t let him fool you, he is not that
short off the tee.

Hogan Flight: Jim Cannon won in sudden death playoff
which took four holes against Dan Kwilas.
Dan had the early lead coming into the ninth hole by one stroke but
posted a double bogey to Jim’s bogey to fall one stroke back. Pete Kaufman had a one stroke lead through
nine but a closing 43 on the back nine put him two strokes back. Jimmy Choi was the leader coming into hole
eight but he had a tough time on the tricky par four eighth hole posting a
snowman. Jimmy followed up that bad hole
with a birdie to get some of the strokes he gave to the field back and was only
1 back of Pete at the turn. The 12th
hole sealed any chance of making a run for the win when he posted an eleven on
the par four hole. Dan Kwilas and Jim
Cannon battled tough in the playoff but it was a bad chip shot that opened the
door for Jim to post par and win the Hogan Flight. Jim Cannon more than likely will be promoted
to the Palmer Flight after the last Tour Index update in late August.

Sarazen Flight: Terry
Witte scored his 2nd tournament win with a strong finish winning by
one stroke over Tom Ward and two over Dave Geim of Iowa. John Carrato had the early lead by one stroke
but stumbled on the inward nine shooting a 46.
Jim Patchett also was in the mix one back but posted a 52 on the
back. Only two strokes separated fourth
from first and an 8 on the Par five 13th put him in a deep
hole. Dave Geim of Iowa never could get
much going to make a strong run and the only difference in the back nine for
Tom Ward was Terry scoring birdie on number 13 which is all that he needed to
win by one over Tom Ward

Jones Flight: Bryan Tyman took charge of the tournament in
the Jones Flight shooting a wonderful round of 77. This makes Bryans third win on tour out of
ten tournaments he competed in. He
entered the event as a 20.9 Tour Index and with this score he will have a Tour
Index of 18.8 which will keep him in the Jones Flight. Sorry guys, Bryan is the guy to beat in the
Jones Flight. Richard Ledbetter posted a
good round and good enough to win any day in the Jones flight but it is tough
to beat a round like what Bryan had.

Snead Flight: Ben Bevill continues his winning ways winning
his fourth tour event by one stroke over Brain Booker. Brian Booker has finished 2nd in
his last two events losing by one stroke.
It was Gigi Leonard however who had the early lead shooting a 44 on the
front nine with Mike Kelly only one stroke back of her. Both Gigi and Mike struggled on the back
while Ben and Brian posted 41 to take the top two spots. The question many Snead Player’s were
wondering will soon be answered, the Jones Flight will have a new member when
Ben Bevill gets promoted after the next update.
Ben’s Tour Index will be 19.5, the Jones Player’s are waiting for you
Ben.
